FAQ
  • Why not ebay?:  Well, ebay is actually just fine.  I buy and sell on ebay.  Some of the horns below may have started as ebay finds.  However, many of the sellers on ebay don't understand brass instruments, much less trumpets and cornets.  Many-a-buyer has headed to ebay for a good deal on a 35 year old cornet and end up with an unwanted project -- frozen slides, slow valves and all.  Any horn that I sell will have been deep cleaned, repaired if necessary to restore playability, and tested to ensure that it is ready to go.  What you get from me is very different than what you will get from almost all sellers on ebay.
  • Will you buy my horn?  Maybe.  I am only interested in trumpets, cornets, and flugelhorns.  Unless it is towards another of my horns or unique in some way, I probably won't offer as much as you could get on ebay or the open market.  Email me details and pictures and I'll give you a quote.
  • Do you accept trade-ins?  Yes. I don't have a set price list, but I will try to offer a fair credit towards your purchase.  Email pics of your horn for a trade-in value.
  • Do you have student horns?...I have several in stock, please choose the "for sale" link at the top of the page.  Also, definitely read this guide that I wrote up on how to choose a student or beginner trumpet.  I started offering them based on demand for reasonably priced trumpets and cornets that are completely serviced and ready-to-go.
  • What do you play?...Mostly I play a Schilke X4 trumpet with a CG personal mouthpiece.  The X4 is a wide open and lightweight 0.468 bore trumpet.  On Cornet I play a Carol CCR-388R or a York monarch or an Olds 6a with a Wick 3 mouthpiece with a custom rim.  I don't have a flugelhorn at the moment.
  • Where are you located?  Can I inspect the horn prior to purchase?  I am based out of Cincinnati, Ohio.  Please email if you would are in the area and would like to set up a time to see an instrument in-person.

SHIPPING, PAYMENT AND POLICIES
  • Payment: I accept paypal, money orders, and checks.  Simply click the "Buy now" button for credit card or paypal payment.  All money orders, cashier and personal checks require time to clear.  The only exception is USPS money orders, which I will accept the same as cash.
  • Shipping: Prices include shipping in the lower 48.  I will ship worldwide.
  • International shipping:  International buyers must pay a shipping surcharge that is less than the actual cost of shipping minus thirteen dollars.  Please email for an exact quote, but typical shipping surcharges for shipping a trumpet or cornet to an international destination follow, with the first amount being a horn shipped with a case and the second amount is a horn shipped without a case:
